Q. Why should
I hire a private tutor?
A.
One-on-one instruction offers students an advantage
over typical group learning environments. The
private student will develop much stronger skills
and progress more quickly. Students can learn
or relearn material at their own pace and in
the privacy of their own home. Also, most students
feel more comfortable asking questions while
working one-on-one with an instructor. Most
importantly, students are given immediate feedback
and instruction can be tailored to fit the specific
needs of each student.
Q. Does
Tutors to You offer group sessions to
reduce enrollment costs per student?
A.
Yes, we do, though we try to keep group sessions
small, and we consider it best if all students
in a group share roughly the same comprehension
level of the subject being taught. Call us for
more information.
Q. I have
a busy schedule and sometimes have to cancel
lessons. What is your cancellation policy?
A.
Tutors To You believes consistency is important
in achieving the best results when working
with children. Also, once you have registered
for lessons, your tutor will have reserved
a specific time slot in his/her weekly schedule
for you. So it is very important to try to
keep your appointments. However, we do realize
that things come up and emergencies happen,
so we have implemented a cancellation policy.

Q. Can I
purchase lessons week-by-week?
A.
Sorry, but Tutors to You only offers 4, 8
or 12 lesson packages. If paying all at once
for a given package creates undue financial
hardship on the family, we may consider accepting
installment payments, but only if the client's
account is in good standing.
Q. I saw
an ad for a tutor for only $25 an hour. Why
should I pay more for a tutor through Tutors to You ?
A.
There are a lot of people who advertise for
private tutoring, and they may charge less
than we do. However, there is no guarantee
that they have the appropriate references
or qualifications to tutor. Each of our tutors
has been hand-selected for their friendly
demeanor and expertise in their subject area.
Many have education
backgrounds and teaching certificates. As a matter of practice,
we hire only the best tutors. This ensures
the best results. We believe that the students
we work with are worth the investment, and
deserve nothing less.
Q. Can I
just tutor my own child?
A.
From experience, we have found that children
would prefer their moms and dads to be their
parents, not their tutors. Children can be
resistant with parents, and usually work better
with, and are more tolerant of, a designated
tutor. For better or worse, children tend
to modify their behavior in a manner conducive
to learning when presented
with an authority figure outside their immediate
families. Our tutors have been
trained to identify each pupil's learning style,
and to provide instruction which caters to
the student's inherent strengths.
Q. If I am
unhappy with my tutor from Tutors to You , what
do I do?
A.
Our staff works very hard to ensure that you
or your child is matched with just the right
tutor. If for some reason, however, you are
not happy with your tutor, call us and we will
assign you a new tutor, or try to work out the
problematic area.
